NEWSFLASH Amended provisions for movement of children between parents’ homes

The Directions issued by the Minister of Social Development on 30 March regarding the movement of a child between the homes of co-holders of parental responsibilities during the Covid-19 lockdown period have, to the relief of many families, been amended.

They now allow a child to be moved between parents, but only where a court order to that effect is in place, or where a parental responsibilities and rights agreement/parenting plan making provision for such arrangements has been registered with the Family Advocate. Such movement is subject to the proviso that there must not be any person in the household to which a child is intended to move, who is known to have come into contact with or is reasonably suspected to have come into contact with a person known to have contracted (or reasonably suspected to have contracted) Covid-19.
